Sometimes you don’t know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. – Unknown

Happy New Year!  What is your New Year’s Resolution?  Maybe consider an annual family portrait?!

As photographers we are so busy during the season of September to December taking family portraits for other beautiful families we often don’t have time to photograph our own family’s portraits.  Or if you’re not a photographer you may second guess shelling out money for family portraits every year.  Or you pay to have those family portraits photographed and get the disc and don’t ever print your images!

Stop!  Here’s your resolution.  Take the time for your own family photos.  Spend the extra cash on family photography on a quality photographer.  Don’t forget to PRINT your photos! — The quote above says it all!  It may seem tedious or expensive or annoying or time consuming now, but in five, ten, twenty… years; you will be so glad you have those memories.  Like this gorgeous session from Megan Lena Photography.

What We Love:

Megan: I shot this session on November 3rd in Indianapolis, Indiana, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the unseasonably warm weather we had! Golden sunshine, fall leaves, deer running around…it was kind of magical! With little kids, nice weather is so helpful!  This session just flowed perfectly-nothing felt forced or fake. They all interacted so beautifully with one another, and I could truly feel the love. The day I sent off the gallery to them, mom texted me and said “Megan, you’re so good!! I LOVE these. Thank you! I feel like you captured their goofy personalities so perfectly, and the light is so pretty. You rock.” It seriously makes my day to know that clients are so happy with what I give them!

Lisa and Rachel: What’s not to love about this classic session.  It is perfectly curated from the location, to the light, to the attire.  There is a perfect ratio of candid to posed photos and the client was right! Megan, you are so good!  The connections between the family are warm and natural and do not look posed or forced.  That warm golden hour light is flooding in to the creamy coveted background and the attire is a lovely combination of solids and prints with complimentary colors.  Perfection.

Gear:  Nikon D610 and 50mm 1.4 Nikkor lens
